Vorstadtkrokodile
Christian Ditter / Germany / 2009 / 98 min
In German with English subtitles
Ten-year-old Hannes must pass a dare before he can join the coolest group of kids in town, known as the Crocodiles. He must climb the roof of the old brickyard. On his way down, the rusty ladder gives way, and he winds up clinging to the roof. Kai, who had an accident that left him quadriplegic, sees Hannes dangling from the roof through his telescope and calls for help. The Crocodiles find themselves grateful, but divided. Hannes suggests making Kai a Crocodile, but the others against it. How can wheelchair-bound Kai be a useful member? Everything changes when the shop run by Hannes’ Mom is robbed, and Kai’s unique skills are needed to help the Crocodiles on their quest to catch the thieves.
Based on a beloved German young-adult novel, this humourous, multi-award winning film explores themes of understanding difference and finding the courage to accept help. Warning: course language, brief scenes of fighting.
