Opening Night Gala & Award Celebration
The Opening Night Gala kicks off our festival each year. This event is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate films for youth with friends, family, the media, our sponsors, and our community partners. Our award celebration is an opportunity for members of the Youth and Professional Juries to present awards of excellence to select filmmakers. Following the award celebration is the feature film screening of RED LIKE THE SKY.

Professional Jury Award for Best Picture (for all ages)
Edith Lando Peace Prize ($500 cash prize)

Youth Jury Awards
Youth Jury panels will award two feature films:
* Best Picture - Youth Jury Award (ages 9 and up)
* Best Picture - Youth Jury Award (ages 13 and up)

Youth Jury panels will award five short films:
* National Film Board of Canada Award for Best Animated Film (for all ages)
* Most Inspirational Film or Video (ages 9 and up)
* Most Inspirational Film or Video (ages 13 and up)
* Most Innovative Film or Video (ages 9 and up)
* Most Innovative Film or Video (ages 13 and up)
