Some of the films that have screened in the Family Film Series:
The Boy Who Looks for Gold
Director: Norbert Lechner, Germany, 2007
There is an uneasy peace in post-war Germany, and old rivalries simmer beneath the surface. Eleven-year-old Toni lives with his mother in a small vilage by the river, in the "gold washer's house." Like his grandfather, Toni loves searching for gold, but old hostilities continue to simmer between families, and a conflict grows between Toni and the other village children. Based on the novel by Josef Einwanger.
Max Embarrassing
Director: Lotte Svendsen, Denmark, 2008
This humourous film is about Max, who has the most embarrassing mother in the world. She loves her son dearly, but has the unfortunate habit of always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Mortified Max longs to be cool and impress his pretty classmate Ofelia, but his efforts never turn out as planned, in spite of wise counsel from best friend Hassan.
Reel 2 Real International Film Festival For Youth needs volunteers for our 2009 festival. Volunteers play an important role in making the festival a success and there are a variety of positions available in the Front of House, Marketing, Office, and Education departments. Volunteers are eligible for great prizes and film festival passes. Qualified students can count their volunteer work towards CAPP hours.
For more information and an application please contact our Festival Coordinator, Tammy Bannister, at education@r2rfestival.org. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2009.
