Get Animated! marks International Animation Day with an amazing selection of films: from boldly experimental to flat-out funny, there’s something for everyone. Add workshops that show you how to make your own animated films, and you’ve got a truly irresistible series of events—all absolutely free.

Free animation workshops were offered as part of our Films for All Ages screening at the Vancity Theatre on March 4. Participants created their own films and we’ve added music and sound effects.

Get Animated! 2011
Animation workshops took place at the Carnegie Library (Vancouver) on October 22, The Media Lab (Richmond) on October 23, and the W2 Cafe on November 5. View the animation created at these events below. All sound effects downloaded from freesound.

 

Get Animated! workshops and screenings were brought to you by the National Film Board of Canada in collaboration with Vancouver Public Library, Emily Carr University, W2 Community Media Arts, Cinevolution, City of Richmond and the Media Lab.


Object & clay animation at the Vancity Theatre, April 9 & 10, 2011
Kids had the opportunity to make their own animations, under the guidance of local animator Scott Kiborn. Offered in partnership with the National Film Board.

Youth created their own animations, under the guidance of award-winning filmmaker Jeff Chiba Stearns. Offered in partnership with the City of Richmond and the Cinevolution Media Society.
